NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN
TO HOST LOS ANGELES RED CROSS CELEBRITY AUCTION
FOR LOCAL DISASTER AND HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF

September 16, 2005, Los Angeles, CA – Sabor Cuisine and Events together with PRHollywood is producing the Beverly Hills auction for the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles with MC Nicolette Sheridan as a fundraiser for the American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund and Katrina Disaster Relief on October 15, 2005.

As a result of the recent Katrina Hurricane disaster in New Orleans, the producers are urging sponsors to donate specific items that can be auctioned off to raise money for the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund that is helping to give aid to thousands of hurricane victims.

Since Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast at the end of August, the American Red Cross has been operating an average of 300 shelters every night, mostly in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, with an average of 50,000 hurricane victims in those shelters each night. Every day, 300,000 to 400,000 meals have been served by the Red Cross, with over 9 million meals served to date. Locally, the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles has assisted over 1,100 families form the disaster area who have come to Los Angeles on their own. These families have received over $662,000 for emergency needs such as food, clothing, and medical prescriptions or glasses. Over 300 of those families have been placed in local hotels by the Red Cross to insure they have a safe place to stay.

The combined silent and live auction will offer some of Beverly Hills’ best name brands in jewelry, furs, designer handbags and clothing, art, restaurants, spas and travel packages. Some of the donating sponsors include: MAGGIE BARRY FASHIONS JUDITH RIPKA JEWELRY, DICKER & DICKER FURS, CHARLIE LAPSON FASHION PACKAGES, DEER VALLEY WEEKEND FOR FOUR COUPLES, etc.

About The American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund for Los Angeles

The mission of American Red Cross is to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. To accomplish that mission, the Red Cross provides planning, preparedness, community disaster education, mitigation, and disaster response that will provide the American people with quality disaster services delivered in a uniform, consistent, and responsive manner. The American Red Cross responds to hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, fires, and other situations that cause human suffering or create human needs that those affected cannot handle alone. In Los Angeles last year the American Red Cross responded to nearly 500 disasters from single family fires to major apartment fires and the Glendale train wreck.
