February 21, 2006, BEVERLY HILLS: Over three hundred bidders from all over the world, including nearly two hundred Ebay™ bidders took part in the first special sale hosted by the respected Chait Gallery on Sunday, February 19th. An eclectic array of snuff bottles, stunning bronzes and porcelains from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, exotic jades, exquisite and intricate ivories and a vast offering of European artifacts and furniture created a big buzz to collectors with origins as vast as the artifacts offered during the sale. Indeed, thirty-seven countries and counting, the I.M. Chait Gallery is fast becoming a name to reckon with in the international art market.
Sunday's sale offered several treasures from some of the most beloved Chinese Dynasties. With willowy blossoms and scrolling foliage and flowers and measuring 17 1/4” in diameter, an avid collector beat out several other bidders with the final price of $66,000.00. From the 16th Century Ming Dynasty, Lot #196 showcased an extremely rare wucai enameled porcelain ewer with cover.
