Beverly Hills, CA July 18, 2006 - I.M. Chait Gallery and Auctioneers had a triumphant auction this past Sunday that ended in selling over 300 lots. These included gorgeous pieces from the Qianlong Dynasty, Pre-Columbian pottery and Japanese screens. With over 300 people registered through phone, absentee, online & in-house bidding, competition ensued heavily amongst the bidders. The eclectic collection brought in nearly three quarters of a Million Dollars in total revenue by the end of the day!
The auction started with a bang when bidders began competing for a three antique white jade toggles Lot #22 that sold for $3300. The trend continued throughout the auction, with many lots selling above their high estimate.

Lot #192, a Famille Rose Yen Yen Vase dating back to the early 18th Century from the Chinese Yongzheng period, depicting an elaborate battle scene sold for $9,300 to an online bidder.

There was a lot of excitement about Lot #200, a superb 16th Century blue and white vase, moulded into a unique shape of elegant form. This piece adorned emperor Wanli’s seal on the base, making the item much more valuable and rare. The piece was bought for an impressive $42,000 to an established collector.

When it came time for some Western pieces, bidders went wild for Lot #283, the complete set of Tiffany sterling silver flatware. This stunning group sold for $7,800 to a floor bidder. An amazing deal that many were frustrated they did not get.

Lot #376 created quite a buzz in the room. An Early Republic eggshell vase, which was estimated at $400-600, sold for $7,200! A surprised audience watched as the bids increased and excitement mounted. The lot was sold to a collector from China
