Central Indian, carved red sandstone figural group of a divine couple (Mithuna); standing side by side, each partially nude and draped in beaded garlands, with finely detailed facial features: he holding a large sword in one hand and caressing the woman, she with one arm over his shoulders; on platform with foliage lappets; Circa 10th/11th Century; H:18"; on stand; Provenance: Bonhams, November 4, 2003; formerly part of the Avery Brundage Collection at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco
