FINE FOSSIL SHRIMP
Aeger armatus
Jurassic
Solnhofen Formation, Eichstatt, Germany

The lithographic limestone quarry in Eichstatt has yielded some of the finest and most important fossils in the world. This shrimp is a perfect example of the beautiful preservation found in the region. It is finely presented, with long slender antennae, terrific texture to the shell of the tail section and warm pale orange-brown coloring. This is an unusually large specimen, measuring 9 1/4 inches along the curve of the body, and is presented in an irregularly-shaped limestone matrix 14 x 11 1/4 inches.
Estimate $750-950
