SENSATIONAL GOLD NUGGET WITH NATURAL QUARTZ
Central Victoria, Australia
This massive specimen is a highly unusual and highly attractive find, even by the standards of the great Australian gold fields. The vivid yellow color of the metal denotes an exceptionally high carat content, and it boasts almost no burnishing, with a superb and finely textured surface throughout, like the delicate crumpling of gold leaf. Dramatically, the nugget also retains a large portion of the matrix rock, a milky-white quartzite with a soft pink blush and veins of vivid earthy red. A highly aesthetic specimen of museum quality and exceptional size, it measures approximately 6 3/4 x 3 5/8 x 3 inches, containing a massive 3100g (99.67 ozt) of gold.
Estimate $275,000-325,000
