Very fine, antique Japanese tanto (short sword); with copper habaki (collar), the gold inlaid iron fittings all of star motif; with matching kozuka (utility knife handle) with signed blade, and hairpin each tucked into the cloud motif red lacquer scabbard; with pair shakudo chicken menuki (ornaments) to the shagreen and leather wrapped hilt; Meiji Period; L: 13 1/2" (overall scabbard)
