Large lot of 90+ vintage letters, postcards, telegrams, along with related articles, pamphlets and the like; addressed to I. 'Doc' Groupp, artist and Chinese seals designer, from his wide community of artistic and academic friends including: Abstract Expressionist Sam Francis (American, 1923-1994); a set of postcard-size drawings from Pop artist Phillip Hefferton (American, 1933-2008); Australian artists Robert H. Grieve (1924-2006) and Ian Fairweather (Scottish-Australian, 1891-1974); author and illustrator Richard "Jud" Henderson (American, 1925-2016); singer-songwriter of Peter, Paul & Mary, Mary Travers (American, 1936-2009); photographer Robert Freson (Belgian-American, b. 1927); Chinese art historian, former curator at the Freer Gallery of Art, and professor at UC Berkeley, James Cahill (American, 1926-2014); author, and professor of calligraphy and oracle bones, Keliang "Teddy" Owyang (Chinese 1918-1992); author Money L. Hickman; kabuki/nagauta musician and a designated Japanese 1978 Living National Treasure Eizaemon Kineya (1894-1892), two of whose Xmas cards are vintage woodblock prints by the Hyogensha Co.; together with others, including a couple of correspondences with the FCC, as well as a note from Congressman Thomas M.
