FULGURITE TRIO
At first glance it seems impossible to guess what these strange items might be, but one would certainly not suppose that they were hollow tubes of glass. The name's Latin origin provides a clue: fulgar, meaning "thunderbolt". They are the result of a lightning strike in quatorze sand, the fine particles fused by the extreme and sudden heat (up to 4000°C) into these fantastically-textured, strange arrow-straight objects, the largest, 6 1/2 inches long.
