CHEMIST'S CERAMIC AND GLASSWARE
Large group of Chemist's ceramic and glassware including three 19th-century style blue-painted ceramic jars, made in Portugal, one with handle and spout, the largest 10 1/4 inches high; three smaller reproduction ceramic jars, one labelled HEROIN, with gilt decoration and no lid, made in Japan; three large glass chemist's display jars, two filled with clear cellophane lozenges, the other with dried leaves; various glass bottles, five with gilt-bordered content labels; two cast brass alchemical symbols for lead and glass, registered to TINACTIN; 17 white-painted wooden alchemical symbols, many labelled in pencil; a centerfold information sheet on the symbols and their history, with a copy of Scope magazine, Winter 1954, in which it appears; and a pair of Chinese calligraphic scrolls reading "It is easy to get a thousand prescriptions, but hard to find one single remedy".
