A 150-year-old relative of today's parrotfish, this lovely little Gyrodus is from one of the most renowned collecting localities in the world, the lithographic limestone of Solnhofen, with typically excellent detail, 13 3/4 inches high in warm dark brown on an irregular 19 inch long matrix dramatically edged with dense forests of fern-like dendrite deposits.
