1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE 'Ponton' Coupe
One of the last hand-built Mercedes-Benz cars with a limited production of 830 cars over 2 years, this 220 SE has always been a Southern California car that was lovingly maintained by the original Newport Beach family. Equipped with a powerful 2.2 fuel injected engine mated to a 5-speed ZF transmission, the car was the recipient of a total repaint in the original anthracite grey in the 1990s. Shortly after the interior was refinished in proper Mercedes connolly leather and the original wood trim refinished. The original chrome on the car is in fantastic, original condition. The body is very straight, has good panel fittings and great paint work. The undercarriage is very original and free of rust, or corrosion. The dashboard has beautiful wooden details including the famous 'VDO Kienzle' clock and original Becker radio. Recent service includes new tires, brake lines, and fuel injection service.
